Sons, here are a few notes from our social meeting on Feb 5th at ABC Harrisburg. Thank you Mike for organizing this event for the club. We look forward to having them as part of a rotating venue to host us for club meetings and even a brewery tour sometime. If I had heard correctly, we had taken a quick vote, which passed, to donate a $50 tip to ABC as a sign of good faith and thanks for hosting us now and in the future.

      News:

      – Brad will front the money for the purchase of the 6 tap club jockey box going for roughly $400 or so . The price includes the cooler, plate chiller manifold, taps, connections, etc.

      – Brad also mentioned that he has the chance of buying a 25lb CO2 tank for very cheap [$25] for the club. The club had a mini vote and agreed for him to make the purchase. He is also able to have it tested for free in case the tank inspection has expired.

      – Jake Hornick is researching whether he is able to source a regulator for these CO2 tank free of charge.

      – Brad recommended that the club NOT pursue incorporation so that there is no threat to current incorporations such as Sons of Anarchy, etc. to avoid any possible Cease and Desist pursuits. While I do not believe we had voted on this, I presume the vote will unanimous be for us to do so.

      – Brian Martin is still researching the liability insurance but stated that the AHA has announced that clubs do NOT require incorporation to acquire liability insurance. One major factor though is to ensure that club officers are personally covered.

      – Brian Martin began collecting money for liability insurance, which is estimated at $3 per person. So far, I believe 4 people have paid there portion of the liability insurance dues but he is keeping a record.

      – Brian Martin is also researching the best means of setting of a savings account for us to avoid taxation, etc.

Thank you Brian for all of the hard work!

Congratulations to Matt Miller for being interviewed on episode 6 of the Sour Hour podcast recently where he provided great information about his souring techniques and offered some advice to fellow homebrewers. Also, he is the first and currently only official sponsor of the Sour Hour show. Great job Matt! We appreciate your dedication and willingness to share your knowledge to the club and the homebrewing community. Make sure to listen to the podcast when available. Great show!
