PA Brews for Ukraine Homebrewers Kit
A Sons of Alchemy homebrewed initiative to organize a statewide relief effort for Ukraine.
This statewide initiative is organized by Sons of Alchemy Homebrew Club for homebrewers and breweries throughout PA to brew and donate to the Ukraine relief efforts. We will aggregate and track our contributions so Pennsylvania Homebrewers can see the fruits of our collaborative efforts.
The #PABrews4Ukraine Initiative
During the heat of the Russian invasion, Pravda Brewery in Lviv, Ukraine made a powerful statement with their social media post. They had halted their beer production to make Molotov Cocktails. This was immediately followed by their announcement of the Brew for Ukraine collaborative, which is where the Sons of Alchemy come in.
In this collab, Pravda Brewery has asked craft brewers from around the world to unite in a show of solidarity and brew Pravda’s original recipes and encourage donations from the sales of those brews.
This left out homebrewers, who also want to join in this cause but don’t know how to. While we can’t donate profits from sales, we can still make individual donations and help raise awareness, encouraging donations from friends and family by posting your photos to social media with a link to their GoFundMe donation page and using the #PABrews4Ukraine hashtag.
We’ve painstakingly scaled each of Pravda’s recipes down to 5.5G batches and converted the measurements to good ol’ not-metric for ease of PA brewin’.
Here are our scaled recipes, and #PABrews4Ukraine labels in AI and EPS format.
- Ukrainian Anti-Imperial Stout – 9.8% ABV
- Putin Huylo – Dry Hopped Golden Ale – 8.0% ABV
- Syla Belgian Tripel – 8% ABV
- Red Eyes – American Red Ale – 5.8% ABV
- Frau Ribbentrop Witbier – 5.0% ABV
We’re also encouraging our Pennsylvania small-batch craft brewers and breweries to join us in solidarity, each brewing a Pravda recipe and donating a portion of those profits to this cause. Here are the links to Pravda’s original recipes and label art.
Organized by Cory McGuinness, Former Head Brewer at Pravda Beer Theatre
